2009 Conference
Banff Conference on Internet Gambling [Complete] Thursday, March 26 (Opening Reception from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm), Friday, March 27 & Saturday, March 28, 2009 @ The Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, Canada. The Alberta Gaming Research Institute and the University of Lethbridge co-sponsored the eighth in a series of special interest conferences in the area of gambling studies. This conference discussed the latest research on the prevalence and patterns of online gambling around the world; regulatory approaches used in different countries; the experience of jurisdictions currently providing online gambling; concerns with and potential remedies to the issues/problems associated with online gambling; pros and cons of different policy options; online treatment for problem gambling; and poker bots. The conference took place at the Banff Centre - a relaxing and intimate setting in the majestic Canadian Rockies. It brought an international focus to bear on the topic and was of interest to educators, policy makers, regulators, and researchers. A completed conference 2009 program is also available.
