Lai (46) 46. CULTURE AND GAMBLING: RESEARCH ON ETHNO-CULTURAL MINORITIES’ INVOLVEMENT Research about cultural factors affecting gambling behaviors is sparse. This study aims to understand the level to which factors and correlates identified in explaining gambling behaviors are relevant to minorities. A telephone survey will be conducted in four cities in Canada to ascertain the extent to which the gambling or non-gambling behaviors of Chinese, South Asians, Filipinos and Vietnamese communities in Canada are influenced by cultural factors.
Status (Complete)
Data collection activities are complete and 640 telephone surveys were obtained. Data entry and data analysis is also complete. Several scholarly articles and conference papers reporting on research findings are in progress.
