The Alberta Gambling Research Institute is a consortium of the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge. Its primary purpose is to support and promote research into gaming and gambling in the province. The identified research domains include bio-psychological and health care, socio-cultural, economic, and government and industry policy and practice.

The Institute aims to achieve international recognition in gaming-related research. It is coordinated by a Board of Directors working in collaboration with a consultative stakeholder group. The Government of Alberta provides funding to the Institute.

Each of the partner universities has a resident research coordinator who promotes interest in gambling-related research. Information on the funding programs of the Institute can be obtained from them, the respective Research Grants Offices, or by contacting the Executive Director.

Details regarding the Institute's
activities since its inception in 1999 are available in the brochure "A Decade of Achievement.
